student model flute (Yamaha 225SII to be precise). I feel that my
playing has really improved in the past few months. I've really
improved my tone and I am looking at some more challenging repertoire.
My music teacher strongly encourages me to buy a new flute as he feels
that this would really benefit my playing. However, I take private
lessons and I have played with the same teacher since I began as a
younger student. She has never mentioned me getting a new flute. I
don't know if I should be the one to bring it up or if I should wait
for her to say something?
I posted a question the other day about buying certain brands. I would
definitely consider a Yamaha, since I have had positive experiences
with their instruments. I played on a Jupiter flute when I was quite
young (with a curved headjoint) but I was too young to really tell if
it was a good flute.
I realize that I will have to try out all the flutes before I buy
because it is a matter of personal preference. On that note, any
recommendations as to flute brands are welcomed!
